A Durban organisation is investigating the source of an alleged hoax message claiming that it was distributing the controversial drug Ivermectin, which is being used to combat the transmission of Covid-19 in some quarters internationally.
The Natal Memon Jamaat (NMJ) community-based organisation issued a statement on its social media platforms warning the public that a message doing the rounds regarding the free distribution of the drug was a “hoax”.
Shire closes door on family day care
MORNINGTON Peninsula Shire Council has decided to stop providing family day care on the peninsula and in the Frankston area.
The shire says “a steady decline in the service” has over the past five years coincided with the rising number of family day care providers in the market.
Families using the “home away from home” service have been given 12 weeks to find alternative care for their children.
“We are confident these [alternate] services will provide a varied choice for all educators when selecting a new provider to transfer to with little to no disruption to them or the families and the children they care for,” said an unattributed statement issued last Thursday by the shire.

Jessica Gerger, who s the President of Friends of Kororoit Creek, said the group collected hundreds of kites and string from Sunshine West s Buckingham Reserve on Monday, after a kite festival was held nearby at the weekend. We gathered as much as we could and compressed it all down and stuffed it into the back of our station wagon, and it was an entire station wagon load, she said. I think part of the festival was releasing the kites. I think people don t quite think that through, that when you let something go, it s going to come down somewhere.
